Point Perk Café to open at the Kentucky Career Center, Covington
Point Perk Coffee is adding a new location – inside the Kentucky Career Center, thanks to a partnership between that agency and the Point Arc, which operates the nonprofit coffee shop.
Point Perk currently employs four individuals with intellectual and development disabilities at the location on Pike Street in downtown Covington. With the addition of this satellite location at the career center’s Madison Avenue office, the Point’s Social Communications Program will be able to use Point Perk for the learning benefits of their students.
The Point’s director of transition, employment, and social communication, Jennifer Wells and her team will spearhead the new location with the students from The Point’s Career Explorations Program. The Career Exploration Program gives high school students the opportunity to learn about various careers by participating in hands-on work experiences at local businesses.
Point Perk will be open Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. beginning in September.
Point Perk opened in late 2015 as the newest business endeavor of The Point Arc.
